Zhou Quanbin was one of Koxinga's commanders. He fought with him along the Fujian and Guangdong coast and took part in the 1659 expedition against Nanjing.
When Koxinga died in 1662 the Zheng camp split. In Taiwan the generals Huang Zhao and Xiao Gongchen made Koxinga's younger brother Zheng Xi regent; in Xiamen, Zheng Jing, backed by senior men including Chen Yonghua and Zhou Quanbin, declared himself heir as Prince of Yanping. Late that autumn Zheng Jing crossed the strait and landed in Taiwan.
The two armies fought across the Tainan plain and along the shore, and for a while the Taiwan side had the better of it. Zhou led a picked assault force at Chikan; Huang Zhao was shot in the confusion and the Taiwan troops broke. Zheng Jing took Anping and his position was secure.
Afterwards the Qing took Kinmen and Xiamen, and the Zheng bases on the mainland coast fell one after another. In 1664 Zhou surrendered to the Qing with his men and was made Earl Cheng'en. The man who had won Taiwan for Zheng Jing was on the Qing side two years later.
1662 Crossed with Zheng Jing and broke the Taiwan faction at Chikan
